In our latest deep-dive article, we ask why environmental policy often seems more tailored toward hindering U.S. economic growth than... benefiting the environment. Our answer involves a social illness and the pernicious influence of lobbyists!
Forget the lobbyists; they're constitutional under the First Amendment's right of assembly and right of redress. I cannot find the right to virtual signal anywhere in the constitution.
Exactly. We didn’t elect the lobbyists, and they are going to do whatever suits their interests. Our elected officials, however, have a responsibility to represent our interests and exercise some prudent judgment when lobbyists attempt to influence policy in a harmful way
I do have one problem with lobbyists: many have ID badges that give them access to places on Capitol Hill from which the general public is prohibited. This should be stopped.
Great additions! The Affordable Care Act didn't come to mind but I nearly mentioned the Patriot Act because... can you imagine anything less patriotic than spying on one's own citizens? Thanks for reading, Dave!
THIS: "The problem is that, for several years, our political dialogue has been boobytrapped. On certain ‘sensitive’ topics—climate change, racism, gender—logic and practicability have been abandoned in favor of performative posturing, facilitating a surge of illogical policymaking."
Thanks for providing a new (to me) reason to despise our worthless current administration! Here's hoping 47 can do what he's promised (threatened) to do! #DOGE
Of course - thanks Jenna! We will be crossing our fingers that, over the next 4 years, he’ll be able to cleanse at least some of the contamination of our government. #DOGE indeed
Wow I didn’t know any of this… Another example of obsessive climate change ideology hurting America and enriching other countries.
It is extremely frustrating that it is not common knowledge how idiotic this economic plan is. And it’s because anyone who points it out is labeled an ANTI-SCIENCE CLIMATE CHANGE DENIER!!!
Yes exactly! The underlying emotional sentiment is all that matters to some people. And you can bet your life that foreign countries are exploiting that in every available instance.
Our government is so corrupt it is beyond words. Most of Congress has forgotten who they work for. They have stolen from us via social security. They have run us so far into debt the next three generations probably won't be able to pay it off. That's just on the Federal level. State level politicians have also forgotten who they work for. They have become as corrupt as the Federal government. Stealing from pension funds. Giving away billions of tax dollars with no returns. It's no wonder no one trusts them.
Exactly - imagine if there were a return on investment calculation for any of the federal spending that has been enacted over the past decade! It would be a bloodbath. As always, thank you for reading and contributing, Rebecka!

**Heyyy, must be the monay!**
Now add the A.C.A. Affordable Care Act and the Patriot Act to the list.

The Patriot Act is exactly what Hitler did.
