Many understood the fallacy of sanctuary cities along with the costs of insurance increases that hit cities like LA for such policies and disasters both natural and man induced. This article provided a much needed, deeper understanding of the issues and gave a title, 'Death Spiral', to such actions. Excellent, thanks

I know what you mean, Andi. share-the-wealth Demagoguery has been going on at least since ancient Rome; just promise the masses bread-and-circuses, and they'll follow you anywhere,

I'm waiting for the big earthquake. The one that separates California from the US continent. The one that allows them to become a country of their own. They are truly the land of fruit and nuts. Fruit grows there and NUTS run the place.

The Democratic mayor to be of NYC, along with the mayors of Chicago, LA and San Francisco are a gift to Republicans that keeps on giving. Masters of misgovernance.

Each of those cities mentioned have been run by democrats for generations. Rudi G being one of the few exceptions but even current NYC Mayor Adams was a democrat. Point being if the voters have not seen the destruction to those cities by democrat leadership by now, do you think one more mayor stretching the tax base will get them to change?

BTW, Mamdani's greatest support came not from the middle and lower class but by those with incomes greater then $100K. Leftist thrive within the wealthy; those who can afford to costs or hire tax accountants/lawyers to reduce their burden.

Most don’t want to acknowledge that people respond to incentives. Insurance, as highlighted is a great example.

Another example is college tuition. Universities, thanks to student loans given out with seemingly no strings attached attached other than paying them back to anyone with a pulse, are incentivized to get more and more knowing they’re going to get paid.

Time for colleges to be liable for unpaid student loans, not taxpayers.

An absolutely essential post to read together with @AMUSE’s “When Professors Quit, America Wins”. The incentives were all in place to encourage societal collapse and many have been poisoned with Marxism from kindergarten. The writing is on the wall…

So much information that I don't know where to start. Another brilliant, insightful and informative essay from the Whole Truth stable of attorneys. When you incentivize smash and grab, you get more. When you incentivize goodies for illegals, you get more illegals. When everything is free then nothing is free. Democrat-run cities have been death spiraling for over sixty years. New York City may now be doomed. In yesterday's Democrat mayoral primary, voters chose the latest pretty face promising fantastic favors; the result will be VD. No, not venereal disease, but Voter Dysphoria.
